Old Dresser to Gorgeous Vanity

In the last few months Mr. and I finally finished our home. We completed 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. While designing the bathroom I came across several pins on Pinterest turning an old dresser into a vanity. What a great idea!! The best part, I had several dressers to choose from from for this DIY project. (Mr's great grandparents home, built in 1910... lots of history there) The hard part was convincing the Hubby it was the way to go.

After talking him into it, we chose the perfect dresser for this task and cleaned it up. We removed the mirror for a later project, sanded the top to smooth the surface and scuff sanded the sides to prepare them for a new stain.  We used the dimensions of the sink to cut a hole in the top and back for the drain.

We ended up losing storage from the top two drawers due to the the sink bowl but the bottom drawer is still useful.  So the front of the two drawers are glued to create a facade.

We then added new knobs to the front and coated the entire piece with polyurethane to make it waterproof. We then added the sink, along with an antique bronzed faucet.

The finished piece is beautiful! The best part, something from the original home here is now preserved and will now live on in our home.

If you have any questions or would like more information regarding this DIY project please comment below.  I'd love to hear from you.
